Arrive with the whole journey in mind

Barcelona to Blanes: trains, buses and airport arrivals

Choose how to arrive

From Barcelona, check an R1 train to Blanes. From BCN, compare bus 603 with R2 Nord and a change to R1 at Sants. Blanes railway station is outside the centre: check the L4 and the remaining leg to your address. From Girona Airport, read the line 605 notice before relying on a direct bus.

Your journey, step by step

Find a route that suits you

Compare options for your starting point and needs. Then confirm the departure, stops and conditions with the operator.

This is guidance, not a booking or confirmation of service. If you have accessibility requirements, confirm the vehicle, stations and final leg before travelling.

Compare the alternatives

The highlighted option reflects your preferences; the others remain here to help you decide.

Public transport

Train: R1 and connections

An option from Barcelona. From BCN, check R2 Nord, the change to R1 and access from your terminal.

Check the station, direction, service changes and final connection in Blanes.

Airport connection

Bus from BCN

Check whether line 603 suits your terminal, date and stop in Blanes. The route does not guarantee a departure that fits every flight.

Check the current timetable, luggage rules and accessibility conditions.

Freedom to stop

Car

Compare the whole journey if you need several stops. Include vehicle collection or return and parking at your destination.

Check traffic and access conditions before leaving.

Agreed collection

Transfer with a driver

An option if you want fewer connections or less walking. Ask the provider to confirm collection, destination, luggage and vehicle conditions.

This guide does not show availability or arrange bookings.

The remaining leg

From the station to your destination

Check the L4 from RENFE to the bus terminal and which stop works for your arrival. Consider confirmed local transport if you want less walking.

Your destination may require a further leg; RENFE is not the town centre.

Barcelona to Blanes: compare the journey to your actual destination

From Barcelona city, start by checking an R1 train that continues to Blanes and a bus departure that suits your starting point. From Barcelona Airport, compare the 603 coach with the R2 Nord train followed by the R1 at Barcelona-Sants. From Girona Airport, do not build your plans around an assumed direct bus: the operator's information checked on 30 September 2026 says line 605 is suspended.

The important distinction is where each option leaves you. Blanes train station, the bus terminal and the town centre are different arrival points. A cheap ticket can still leave a local connection to arrange. A direct coach can avoid a train change without delivering you to your accommodation. Compare the whole chain before choosing.

We prepared this guide at Tiki, our restaurant in Blanes, to help visitors arrive with fewer unanswered questions. The selector suggests what to investigate first. It does not search live departures, sell tickets or confirm a booking. Use its result as a short planning brief, then check the operator for your travel date.

Write down your starting point, final address and any arrival deadline. For a day trip, add the journey home. These details let you compare equivalent journeys instead of putting a city-centre train fare beside an airport transfer and assuming the difference is just price.

Barcelona to Blanes by train: find the right R1 departure

The R1 follows the Maresme coast between Barcelona and Blanes. Its published timetable includes Barcelona-Sants, Plaça Catalunya, Arc de Triomf and El Clot. The official R1 timetable helps identify the route; the operator's journey search and service notices help check the date you need.

Rodalies is the local commuter railway network. You may also encounter the Spanish word Cercanías. When a general rail-booking search does not show the journey you expect, look for the Rodalies service before concluding that there are no trains. A missing result in one retailer is not proof that the line is closed.

Check that your chosen train reaches Blanes. Not every service on the R1 runs along the entire route. Read the destination and stopping information on the station displays, and ask staff if anything is unclear. Do not rely on an old platform number or assume every train finishes at Blanes.

Choose your station before comparing travel times

If you are staying in Barcelona, compare the walk or local journey to a suitable R1 station. Sants is useful when you arrive there on another service, but travelling across the city to it may add an unnecessary step if a different station works better. Use your accommodation address, not simply “Barcelona”, as the start of your own calculation.

If you are changing from a long-distance train, leave time to get off, find the local service and move between platforms. The arrival time printed on your first ticket is not the moment you are ready to board the next train. Check the connection again if your first service is delayed.

When to compare the bus

The Sagalés 603 links the airport, Barcelona and Blanes. Check its official route information for the departure point, date and stop you need. A coach serving the Costa Brava is not automatically a coach to Blanes. The stop for the return direction may also differ from the one where you arrive.

Compare access to the stop, waiting time, the main journey and the final leg. A service without a change can be appealing, but a long wait may outweigh that advantage. Before buying, check the return journey too: a practical outbound option is less useful if it leaves you with a visit too short for your plans.

Barcelona Airport to Blanes: begin with your terminal

Check that your flight arrives at Barcelona-El Prat, airport code BCN, then note whether it uses T1 or T2. Searching “Barcelona to Blanes” without the airport can produce city departures that require an extra journey first. Landing time also comes before disembarkation, baggage collection and reaching the transport stop.

603 coach: check the departure that fits your flight

The Sagalés Airport Line information lists the Barcelona Airport connection and stops. Consult the timetable for your date and terminal. Confirm the Blanes stop rather than assuming the coach calls at your hotel or that every airport departure has the same stopping pattern.

The coach is worth comparing if you want to avoid changing trains. Its usefulness still depends on the wait after your flight and the final journey from the stop. Check what happens to your ticket if the flight arrives late, whether another departure can be used and what the luggage conditions are. A route appearing online does not itself confirm a seat.

The operator describes the service as partly adapted. If you need an accessible vehicle, confirm the specific departure and boarding arrangements directly. Do not treat a general accessibility symbol as confirmation of an accessible journey from the terminal all the way to your address.

Train: R2 Nord to Sants, then R1 to Blanes

The railway option involves the R2 Nord from the airport's T2 station to Barcelona-Sants, followed by an R1 service that reaches Blanes. The official R2 Nord route identifies the airport connection. There is a change of train; this is not a direct airport-to-Blanes service.

If your flight uses T1, include the journey to T2 first. Aena's train information describes the free terminal shuttle, available around the clock. That shuttle availability does not mean the onward railway runs throughout the night. Check each transport segment separately.

Allow time to follow signs, obtain the right ticket and change platforms with your bags. Check which ticket covers the journey you intend to make; do not assume a Barcelona city travel pass covers every leg to Blanes. Keep the ticket until you have completed the journey and followed the exit arrangements.

For a return flight, reverse the planning process rather than simply reversing the train names. Start from the time your airline requires you at the terminal. Include the local journey out of Blanes, the train change and any transfer from T2 to T1. Reaching the airport railway station is not the same as reaching your airline's check-in area.

Girona Airport to Blanes: check the direct-service notice first

Checked on 30 September 2026: Sagalés Airport Line states that line 605 is suspended. This matters because its page also displays a Girona Airport–Blanes commercial route. A destination name or a price on a page is not enough to establish that a usable departure exists. Read the operator's service notice before relying on a direct journey.

Use Girona-Costa Brava Airport, code GRO, as your starting point. Girona city is a different location. If a result begins at an urban railway or bus station, it has not yet solved the journey from your flight. There is no airport-to-Blanes train implied by finding a Girona-to-Blanes rail result.

Aena lists bus operators serving Girona Airport. Use that page to find the relevant operator and confirm the date. A connection described as serving the Costa Brava is not necessarily a direct Blanes service. The suspension of one line also does not prove that every possible public-transport journey is unavailable.

If the proposal includes a change

For a route via Girona city, the operator publishes line 607 between Girona and the airport and line 601 between Girona and Blanes. These are two services to check in the required direction, not a guaranteed connection. Confirm both timetables and the interchange before relying on them.

Check both legs separately. You need the arrival stop, onward departure stop, connection time and ticket conditions. A possible route via Girona city, Lloret or another interchange only works if the actual departures fit. Do not assume that two services appearing in separate searches wait for one another.

Look at what happens if the first leg runs late. Is there another departure you could realistically use? Would you need to cross a road, move between stations or walk with luggage? An itinerary with one tight onward connection is a different proposition from one with several workable alternatives.

If you arrange a transfer

Ask the provider to confirm the meeting point, destination, passenger capacity, luggage space and total quoted price. Discuss flight delays and waiting conditions before booking. If you need an adapted vehicle or a suitable child restraint, state that requirement explicitly and obtain confirmation for the service offered.

A group can share the cost of a vehicle, but that does not automatically make it cheaper than public transport. Compare the same destination and include every passenger and bag. A complete quote and a complete public-transport itinerary give you a fair comparison; an airport transfer and an incomplete city-centre fare do not.

Blanes train station to the centre: plan the missing leg

Save the name of the place where you arrive and the address where you want to finish. If someone is collecting you, agree whether you mean the railway station or the bus terminal. “Meet at the station” leaves room for a misunderstanding precisely when you may have luggage, limited battery or no local data connection.

Moventis publishes the L4 connection between Blanes RENFE, the centre and the bus terminal. Its L4 route and timetable includes Plaça Catalunya in the direction from the railway station towards the terminal. Check the direction and the stop that serves your final address. The document warns that traffic can affect operation.

Pick a stop for your address, not for a vague label

“Town centre”, “beach” and “hotel area” cover more than one point. Locate the stop and then examine the remaining route to your accommodation, meeting place or restaurant. A stop convenient for another traveller may not be the best one for your particular address.

Walking may suit you, but this guide does not label the station-to-destination journey a universally short stroll. Check the actual pedestrian route, your bags, the weather and the needs of your group. A straight line on a map does not show every crossing, slope or access restriction along the way.

If you want to avoid walking, confirm local transport before committing to the main journey. A taxi rank is a place to seek a service, not a guarantee that a suitable vehicle will be waiting when your train arrives. For an arranged collection, confirm where the driver can meet you and what to do if the train is late.

Save the return stop while the details are fresh

Before leaving the arrival area, identify how you will get back to the railway. Check the correct direction and boarding location. Do not assume that the outbound walking time plus the same bus ride will reproduce the return journey exactly: the wait, stopping pattern and traffic may differ.

A useful shared plan needs only three clear references: arrival station, chosen local stop and final address. Add a meeting point if your group may split up. Keep this information in a form you can open without an internet connection, while remembering that a saved timetable is not a live service update.

Driving to Blanes: calculate the route to where you will park

Turisme Blanes identifies the C-32, AP-7 and N-II among the road approaches. Its practical arrival information provides orientation; the route suitable for you depends on your starting point and the conditions that day. A visitor coming from Girona is making a different choice from someone leaving central Barcelona.

Use your intended parking location as the driving destination, then add the journey from there to your final address. Entering only the town name can hide the part of the trip that comes after crossing into Blanes. It can also make a car journey appear more convenient than it will be once parking and walking are included.

Our guide to parking in Blanes, in Spanish covers the parking decision separately. Check the local signs when you arrive. Choose an area that works for your final address and keep an alternative in case it is full. Space availability can change, so include the walk from the place where you actually park.

Include collection and return when comparing a hire car

If you collect a car after landing, allow for reaching the hire desk, completing the handover and finding the vehicle. Check the agreed collection and return locations in the contract. Returning the car before a flight is also part of the journey; arriving at the airport boundary does not complete that process.

For a day visit, compare the practical freedom of having a car with the responsibility of driving and parking. Agree who will drive and organise the return around that decision. The fact that a car can carry several people is useful, but only if the vehicle and luggage capacity suit the group.

A navigation estimate is a planning input, not a guaranteed arrival time. If you have a reservation, leave room for the part of the journey that is less predictable and communicate a delay when it becomes clear. Prepare the destination and a reasonable alternative before moving, rather than trying to choose parking while driving through unfamiliar streets.

Choose around your luggage, group and access needs

The selector highlights an option to check first and keeps alternatives visible. It does not calculate a universal winner. Changing your origin or priorities should change the planning advice, but the final decision still depends on the departures and conditions the operator can confirm.

Count luggage movements as well as changes

A large suitcase matters at station entrances, between platforms and on the last walk. A journey with one change may be straightforward with a small bag and tiring with several heavy cases. Check lifts and access arrangements where needed, along with the operator's rules for large or unusual items.

Do not assume a bicycle, sports equipment or multiple cases are treated like a daypack. If you arrange a vehicle, explain the amount of luggage when requesting the quote. Confirming the number of seats alone does not establish that everything else will fit.

For a group, compare the complete cost

Add the tickets for everyone and any local connections before comparing them with an arranged transfer. Keep the same destination in both calculations. If one quote is per vehicle and another price is per passenger, label them before dividing or adding anything.

When people are arriving separately for private parties in Blanes, agree a meeting location and a realistic arrival window. Different transport choices can work well together. A shared deadline is more useful than asking everyone to take the same route from different starting points.

Check the whole accessibility chain

Avoiding a long walk, travelling without steps and needing a wheelchair-adapted vehicle are different requirements. Tell the operator what you need. Check the specific service, boarding point, interchange and final leg rather than relying on a broad description of the fleet.

For a family journey, include the child's needs after the flight or main ride: waiting, changes and handling a pushchair can matter more than a small difference in advertised journey time. Check the conditions of the particular service. Choose a pace that works for the person who needs the most time, rather than assuming everyone can follow the quickest walker.

Check the journey back before starting your visit

The return trip helps define how long you can stay, but it should not require constant phone checking. Choose an intended departure and a workable fallback in advance. Save the date, boarding point and service name, so the information remains understandable when you look at it later.

Use the official Rodalies timetable search for your route and date, then review the service notices. For a bus connection, check each operator involved. The last train from Barcelona to Blanes is not the answer to a question about returning from Blanes to Barcelona: direction matters.

Start the calculation where your visit will finish

Work backwards from the main departure. Include leaving the restaurant or meeting point, reaching the local stop, waiting and getting to the railway or bus terminal. If you must collect bags or reunite with part of your group, include that task too.

Do not make the last possible connection your only plan without checking what you would do if it were missed. A later taxi, night bus or transfer needs actual confirmation, not an assumption that a tourist town must have one available. If no acceptable fallback exists, choose an earlier return.

Read the dates on disruption notices

A notice may apply only to one section, direction or period. The official service-information page collects line updates. Read the relevant dates before changing your plan; an older notice remaining on a page does not show that the same restriction applies today.

If your onward journey is a flight, start from the airline's required presentation time, not the scheduled take-off alone. Include the correct terminal and any vehicle return. When plans change during the visit, settle the journey home first, share the revised plan with the group and then adjust the remaining activities.

Once the journey is clear, make room for your visit

With the arrival point and return sorted, you can choose what fits between them. Our guide to what to see in Blanes, in Spanish covers the sightseeing decisions. Keep transport planning separate from choosing every stop: solving one first makes the other easier.

A meal is a useful pause after a flight, a train change or the local journey into town. Place it in the time you genuinely have, rather than booking immediately after a scheduled arrival that leaves no space for the final leg. For a short day trip, you might prefer an initial walk before sitting down.

For food ideas, see what to eat in Blanes. Choose a meal that fits the time between your arrival and return, taking account of any luggage you still need to drop off and the needs of the people travelling with you. Decide what you feel like eating once the practical limits are clear.

If a burger suits the day, Tiki is our burger restaurant in Blanes. Check the restaurant information and fit the visit into your own route. We do not assume the restaurant is beside every station or give one walking time for every possible arrival point.

For people arriving separately, agree a meal time that allows for the latest arrival and its remaining transfer. Keep anyone holding a reservation informed when your journey changes. A realistic meeting time lets the first arrivals enjoy their visit without making the last person hurry through unfamiliar transport connections.

The useful outcome of planning is a visit with fewer decisions left to make. Keep the return details handy, allow the journey to finish properly, and leave room for the conversation, food and time together that brought you to Blanes.

Questions to settle before travelling to Blanes

Is there a train from Barcelona to Blanes?

Yes. The R1 connects Barcelona and Blanes. Check a departure that reaches Blanes on your date, as not every train runs along the whole line. Confirm the stopping information before boarding.

Is Barcelona Airport to Blanes a direct train journey?

No. The route described here uses R2 Nord from T2 and a change to R1 at Barcelona-Sants. From T1, add the terminal shuttle first. Check the individual services and allow time for the change.

Can I rely on a direct Girona Airport bus?

Not without checking. On 30 September 2026, the operator's page states that line 605 is suspended. Verify a current departure or a complete connecting option for your date, or arrange a confirmed transfer.

Is Blanes railway station the same as the bus terminal?

No. They are separate locations. The L4 links the railway station, centre and bus terminal, but you still need the stop and direction that suit your destination. Share the exact location with anyone collecting you.

What is the cheapest way to get to Blanes?

Compare the complete cost from your actual origin to your address, including all passengers and local connections. A low headline fare does not settle the question when it excludes part of the journey or uses different starting points.

Where should I check journey times and the last service?

Use the operator's timetable for the date, departure point and direction you need. Add access to the stop and the final leg. This guide does not maintain live departures or promise a fixed journey time.

Will the advice still help on a later trip?

The planning steps remain useful, but schedules, ticket conditions and disruption notices need checking again. Dated information describes the check shown; it is not a guarantee of the same service in a future month.
